The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties
The Community Foundation has been with us from the very beginning - from when we identified the litter issue in the area and started conversations on how to combat it. We first starting exploring the social enterprise model along with what product would be most fitting and impactful for us, and they were there to help with ideas and with funding for the first round of receptacles that went into Oneida Square. They followed with funding for us to build capacity through purchasing needed equipment and marketing. They helped us put people to work, gave us a strong start and cleaned up our neighborhood.
They continued their support by commissioning a trash can of their own to display at their new headquarters in South Utica. Using their logo and matching their corporate colors closely with hand selected mosaic tiles and decorative stones, our team created this stylish, on-brand piece that greets their donors, board members, staff and visitors each day. It compliments the modern architecture of their new building and has been very positively received.
“Sustainability is a priority for The Community Foundation when establishing community partnerships. The programs and services we support fulfill important needs in our communities, and are relied upon by those they serve. Our goal is to ensure that these offerings have the infrastructure and financial well-being to thrive. The social enterprise model is uniquely designed, helping to achieve both a social benefit and financial stability. Oneida Square Public Art and Design is a shining example of what can be achieved when a community invests in itself.”
